What C221 means

C221 means an outdoor temperature (OUT-TH) sensor error: the outdoor ambient thermistor is open, shorted, or reading out of range, so the board cannot measure outdoor conditions for capacity and defrost control. The AR-TSFY service manual lists C221 explicitly as 'Outdoor temperature sensor error' and the Luce E-series table maps E221 the same way; SplitAtlas' WindFree Premium table instead reads C221 as a discharge temperature OVER (too high) error - that conflicts with the manual, which places discharge-sensor faults at C251 and discharge-over at C416, so the sensor-error reading is primary and the discharge-over reading is recorded as a variant.
